Aircraft Maintenance Engineering is a three-year full time course approved by Director General of Civil Aviation, Government of India & B.Sc. Aeronautics is a three years Degree Program Affiliated to University of Mumbai. Both the programs are divided into six semesters of six months each & conducted simultaneously. The integrated program AME with B.Sc. Aeronautics in Avionics Stream get trained in following:
Performing scheduled/ Non-scheduled maintenance related to following:
● Aircraft Instrument Systems
● Automatic Pilot Systems (fixed and rotary wing), including Auto-throttle and Auto-land Systems.
● Aircraft Radio Communication, Navigation and Radar Systems
● Aircraft Electrical Power Generation and Distribution to Avionic Systems.
Eligibility: HSC 10+2 of MSBHSC or equivalent of any other Government state board with minimum 45% marks in aggregate (40% for reserve category) with PCM & English OR Diploma (10 + 3) awarded by MSBTE or equivalent by any other Government body in following branches of Engineering – Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics and Telecommunication.
This unique combination of 3 years integrated program makes students eligible for multiple job opportunities including jobs which compulsory requires a minimum of three years degree as an eligibility criterion in Govt. as well as the private sector.
Aircraft maintenance engineering courses can be pursued with our Institute which is approved by DGCA Govt. of India. AME covers mechanical stream which consists of heavy aircraft, jet engine, light aircraft, piston engines and avionics stream consists of electrical system, instrument system, radio navigation.

During the training, lessons are imparted for the service and maintenance of aircraft so as to ensure flight safety. A two-year full-time program of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering is being offered by Wingsss College of Aviation Technology, Pune. The Institute is duly approved by the DGCA, Government of India and has one of the best Infrastructure facility in India , some of which includes Practical Hands-on Training on LEARJET 25D, FOKKER F 27, HUL 26 PUSHPAK & BELL 47 HELICOPTER, Dedicated Training Laboratories of Electrical Labs, Electronic Labs, Aircraft Instrument Labs, and Radio Navigation as well as Aircraft Battery Shops and Aircraft Composite Structure Shop. Different Types OF Engines Viz. MIG 21 A/C – (R-11F2S-300 ENGINE) , TURBOJET ENGINE (AVON MK-207) (RR) (DISMENTEL), TURBOSHAFT ENGINE (TV2-117A), TURBOJET ENGINE (IL-SO-3-W), Continental C90-8F & Helicopter Engine. The Only Institute in western India, having Excellent Infrastructure Including Aircraft Hanger, Workshop, and Well-Stocked Library to supports teaching and learning. In the beginning, the training focus is on basic information about aircraft rules and regulations which then cover general engineering and maintenance. The subjects taught include aerodynamics or theory of flight, metallurgy, electronics, handling sophisticated equipment and practical work in machine rooms and on aircraft engines. In the later semesters, the study focuses on specific areas like light aircraft, heavy aircraft, piston engines, jet engines or helicopters.
Apart from this, trainees are required to undergo structural aircraft type courses in mechanical or avionics stream. After successful completion of the training program, the trainees will get a basic aircraft maintenance training certificate. This is followed by an examination conducted by the DGCA and University of Mumbai.
Those who qualify the examination will be awarded a license and B.Sc Degree in Aeronautics. The defined duration of the program is sufficient for a candidate to appear for the aircraft maintenance licensing examinations as well as Degree in Aeronautics. After getting the DGCA- AME license, one is required to obtain regulatory license or approval on a type of aircraft. If it is an Airbus or Boeing, one has to obtain an individual license to service that particular type of aircraft. Aircraft maintenance engineers are authorized to inspect the aircraft and certify its fitness.

An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer is a licensed person who is responsible for releasing the aircraft in Airworthy conditions. AME license is issued by Director General of Civil Aviation, (DGCA) Government of India, New Delhi.
An aircraft maintenance engineer is responsible for ensuring an aircraft operates properly and safely.
No civil aircraft registered in India can be operated without being certified as Airworthy by Aircraft Maintenance Engineer holding AME license in respective category.
No civil aircraft can fly without Certificate of Release to Service (CRS) signed by AME.
